Becoming Organized and Setting Goals

ree

This year is a fresh start for many. While the world is still in Chaos, people are taking this chance to reset their lives. I am one of those people... to some extent.

I used to make a forever long list of things that I thought I would accomplish and my life would be changed forever.

THAT IS NOT HOW IT WORKS!!!

Goal setting of course is different for everyone. However, I do not believe that setting a large list of goals with no plan how to accomplish them, does anyone any good.

While I do know what usually works for me on how I work through my goals, I am always trying to learn more so that I can expand on the amount of goals that I can accomplish. With that being said, I am currently going through the 'You Goal Girl' Workbook by the creators of 'Earn Spend Live'. Which is helping me really understand the need behind my goals as well as how to really break them down in the best way.

There are overarching categories that cover the list of goals you may create for yourself.

Fitness/Health

Personal Development

Financial

Professional Development

Hobbies

Creating a brain dump of all of the little and big things you want to accomplish is a good first step. If its written down you are already more likely to complete it. After creating that brain dump you then can categorize and sort out top priority your main year long goals versus quick simple goals or how I like to do them as 14 week goals.

There are numerous studies that show that after just 3 weeks of you doing something it becomes a habit so if you work on a minor goal within a 14 week goal period then I think you can accomplish more within a year.

How I personally do it, is I try to keep 5 main year long goals and then partake in 14 week goals throughout the year.

My top 5 goals for the year of 2021

  1. Pay off $6,000 of debt

  2. Become healthier

  3. Write my book

  4. Become fluent in Korean

  5. Become consistent in my content

Some of my 14- week plans include smaller goals such as

  1. Progress at piano

  2. Better my video editing

  3. Read more

  4. Cook once a week

I have a much longer list of goals than this but this is just a quick glance at my goals for the 14 week plans .

I will be doing a separate post on the specifics of how I plan to achieve my main 5 goals. This is just a quick glance at how I sort out my goals and determine what is worthy of a year long goal versus a 14 week goal.

I hope this helps guide you on your journey to create a solid list of goals. While the new year is always a time when people start their new goals, you can genuinely start them whenever!

So I wish you luck on your adventure of setting goals!
