Exploring the city lead me here

While I have been studying in Daejeon, South Korea I have been able to explore the city. While most people who live here say there is not much too, I feel a little differently. It may not be as exciting as Seoul or Busan, there is plenty to do and see here. There is this place called Hanbat Arboretum. It is tis gorgeous, serene place in the middle of a bustling city.

It is semi-attached to this place called Expo-park which is basically a giant slab of concrete which people picnic on and ride bikes. The reason its called Expo-park is because of this really interesting bridge that connects the park with the science center and that bridge is ……..you guessed Expo bridge!! Hehe
The Arboretum is just this gorgeous expanse of flowers and greenery. We walked around for hours, taking in the sun and the beauty around us. It was one of the first Saturdays since the semester started, and me with some of close friends here at Hannam, decided to explore the city. Which led us to the gardens. It was a warm day, so we spend hours sitting in the fields and walking through all of the different areas of the garden.

There was this particular part of the garden that felt like it was straight out of Wonderland. It flowed beautifully from one section to the other. There was this large play ground off to one side of the gardens, so as you walked through you could hear people laughing and running. Then at some points all of the sound would disappear….it was so interesting. Along with all of the nature and people, there is a small little restaurant at the front of the Arboretum that you can stop in to grab lunch or just a snack. One of the best Mango smoothies I have had here and I have a lot of those

If you couldn’t tell, I’m a huge gardens/ flower person so I always look for these kind of places to explore. The Hanbat Arboretum is a must see in Daejeon, if your looking for a sliver of beauty or just want to take some epic Instagram shots (which of course we did).
